Tile flooring brings a clean, upscale look to a room

Tile is a good wall and floor covering choice for any homeowner. If you're an interior designer at heart, you can combine them with different shapes, sizes, and colors to create a unique, spa-like bathroom or luxury kitchen. Or, if you favor no-fuss decorating, you can choose standard ones to create a clean, upscale look in a room. Regardless of your decorating style, you can find the one that meets your needs at Gowdy Flooring. Our tile flooring store is located in Amarillo, Texas.

Ceramic tile

Ceramic is composed of coarse clay that is hardened in a high-temperature kiln. Many ceramic brands are neutral in color and standard in size, although there are more unique designs. Apply colored grout between them for added visual interest. Ceramic is a porous material, so only glazed ones are waterproof. This clay-based material is less dense and harder than porcelain. Thus, it is easier to cut, which may positively affect the amount of time needed to install a floor.

Porcelain tile

Naturally, waterproof porcelain is a type of ceramic that is made of kaolin clay. This refined clay is hardened in the kiln at a higher temperature than ceramic. Porcelain is a durable material that stands up to heavy foot traffic. It is very resistant to stains and scratches and is superior to ceramic, so they are more costly. Many colorful designs are available, including wood look and stone look tiles that expand decor options. High-quality tile floors never needs to be replaced.

Color body and through body

The patterns and colors are the same between the surface and body in a tile made of through-body porcelain. In other words, the same pigments run through the whole tile. There is no surface glaze on this kind. In general, through-body porcelain is found in solid colors or simple, consistent patterns. Designs are only found in the glaze in a tile made of color body porcelain. The inside is a solid color.
