Three Common Amarillo Flooring Questions Answered

Every week here at Gowdy Flooring, we field all sorts of questions from customers about a wide range of flooring topics, and as time goes by, we have started to realize that many of these questions pop up over and over again.

So, we thought it would be a good idea to make a quick guide for our customers that answers the three most frequently asked questions we get here in our flooring store. Here they are, in no particular order!

Is a Hardwood Flooring Installation Advisable in My Basement?

Depending upon where you go online, you're likely to find conflicting answers to this question, because some outfits like to misrepresent facts, or skew them toward their own purposes. The fact of the matter is that there is really no hard and fast answer to this question, because the advisability of wood flooring in the basement is dependent upon a number of factors.

The main thing to consider is the fact that wood doesn't react well with humidity and water. This makes wood flooring in the basement seem like a bad idea, but if you have a low-humidity basement, solid plumbing, and/or a tankless water heating system, there should be no reason to avoid wood flooring in the basement. Basically, it's a personal judgment call that you will have to make based upon your circumstances. When you make that call, be sure you do so under the advisement of a trusted flooring expert.

Is Carpet Padding Really Important?

Well, the short answer is "yes", but you aren't reading this for that sort of lack of nuance in the answers we provide!

Basically, the padding under your carpet acts as a layer of armor that protects your carpeting from the punishment of footfalls; is responsible for most of the comfort that carpeting is known for; and helps to keep your carpet looking great for longer than it would without the padding.

You don't have to have the padding, but why bother with carpet at all if it's not going to be soft and long-lasting?

Can I Install My Luxury Vinyl Tile Myself?

Yes! One of the more attractive features of luxury vinyl tile is the fact that it is so easily installed by people with only the barest modicum of DIY abilities. This allows you the incredible opportunity to completely save on the labor costs of paying a professional outfit to install your floors!
