Have You Thought About Stone as Your Flooring, Amarillo?

Don’t get us wrong! Hardwood, carpet and other types of flooring are all great choices, but don’t overlook the beauty, versatility and durability of stone for your flooring, Amarillo.

Stone adds a natural beauty and elegance to your home. It’s an especially great choice for flooring in Amarillo, because it’s cool. Amarillo can get pretty hot, so bare feet will appreciate it. Winters are invigorating, but a little cooler, so if the temperature dips, know that stone works well with radiant heat.

It also lasts forever, and needs very little maintenance; no refinishing or replacement necessary.

This is really one of the only flooring types that can be used both indoors and out. If you want a natural flow, such as if your kitchen opens onto a patio, or if you look through large windows or sliding glass doors, you could create a smooth, expansive, unbroken visual.

Gowdy Flooring is a large flooring store located in the Amarillo area. We carry all types of flooring, including, of course, stone.

Stone comes in a lot of varieties, such as limestone, slate, marble, travertine or granite.

You’re probably most familiar with marble and granite. Both have low porosity--granite has the lowest-- which means they don’t absorb stains. In fact, they are often used on countertops, because all it takes is a quick wipe and spills won’t stain.

Marble also has that elegant, veined appearance, and it’s smooth and cool.

Travertine is also used as flooring. It’s much more textured, so there are natural “pockets,” and some do polish it to smooth it out. Others, however, keep it in its natural state, so the texture is highlighted. It’s going to come down to this: “Exactly how much cleaning are you willing to put into it?”

Both slate and limestone come in an assortment of colors. Slate, especially, is water-resistant.

A Stone Flooring Installation Does an Allergy Sufferer Good!

Since porosity is low, and stone is a hard surface, everything stays at the top. That makes it easy to clean. Dust, mites and particles just can’t hide anywhere.

Stone can be pricey, but when you look at the overall picture, such as the long life and little maintenance, you might find it to be cost-effective.
